James Project of Latin America
Monjas, Guatemala

James Project of Latin America, also known as Shadow of His Wings, currently houses and cares for the needs of approximately 80 children, as well as house parents and their families. Several are daughters of prostitutes, with one of them being forced into her mother's profession at the age of six, while others have come to the home badly beaten. One precious girl was found in a hotel room with signs of having been repeatedly tortured, beaten, and raped. For some time she did not speak. At this time, God is leading her through this "valley of the shadow of death" and she is recovering her speech day by day.

Others share similar stories; years of sexual abuse from a father, stepfather or other adult family member, lacking the basics of life including food, clothing, shelter, and love. Most of the children have received little or no education. Thus the orphanage has its own school, trained teachers, psychologists, and counselors to help these children hurdle the problems of life and walk in the success of their future.

1:27 Missions Project is committed to leading teams of compassionate people to Monjas to partner with James Project of Latin America to care for the short and long-term needs of these children.  Our teams do construction, cooking, childrens' camps, church services, and help to provide for the financial needs of orphanage.
